First, I would like to express my gratitude for your continuing support of Kawasaki Frontale.
At the beginning of the 2008 season, our leading player left the team and Manager Sekiduka was forced to resign due to an illness. Tsutomu Takahata united the team brilliantly and the players competed with a "Mind-1 spirit" We made it all the way to second place for the season, stopping just short of the championship. Even better, the team won a ticket to the AFC Champions League (ACL) 2009. Our performances drew lots of attention to J.League. Most noticeable were our relentless battles up to the championship at very end of the season. Considering the setbacks at the beginning of the 2008 season, we can count our recovery as nothing short of remarkable. Thanks to your strong support, the team has overcome the difficulties and finished in the top two this year. Let me once more express my deep gratitude to all of our fans and supporters.

The average number of visitors per game was 17,565 for the season 2008. The overall increase from last year was limited to 230, as bad weather kept many spectators at home. But on a positive note, high-turnout games with crowds of more than 20,000 increased to 7 for the year (versus 3 last year). We think that "Todoroki Ureshi-E Project" our promotional activity organized from a consumer perspective, has had favorable effects on the turnouts. And we expect this effect to grow next year. More games are broadcasted nationwide on channels such as NHK General. Many TV viewers have enjoyed the fast and aggressive play of our team and have been inspired by the enthusiasm of our players through the program.

Eiji Kawashima, Yusuke Igawa, Shuhei Terada, and Kengo Nakamura were selected as members of the national team, and Hiroyuki Taniguchi was selected as a member of the Olympic team. Another teammate, Tese Chong, played as a national team member for North Korea. Shuhei Terada, Kengo Nakamura, and Hiroyuki Taniguchi put in the strongest performances, drawing attention not only to the name "Frontale" but to Kawasaki City as a whole. We are very proud of our significant contributions to improve the image of our home.

The Kawasake Frontale subordinate teams also fought valiantly. U-18 participated in the National Club Youth Championship and U-15 participated in the National Takamadonomiya Cup, though both were defeated in the qualifying rounds. U-17 finally reached its goal of joining the Prince League by advancing up through the semi-finals in the entry matches. U-12 won the national tournament of Danone Nations Cup and participated in the world tournament as a representative of Japan, finishing in 10th place out of 40 countries. The team also won in Kanagawa qualification of the U-12 Football Championship and finished in the top 4 at the national championship. Participation in the national and international tournaments after only three years as a team is a great achievement and source of pride for our players, coaching staffs, and the whole Frontale organization. Our subordinate teams are starting to achieve better results overall. We see this as a promising sign for our future and look forward to the competitions ahead.

We will be participating in league matches, the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup, the Emperor's cup, and ACL in the 2009 season. The team will pool its talents to win both national and Asia championships. We will also take part in community-based social action programs such as events to promote sports and community activities. The team will help to build an active, lively, cheerful and healthy community in Kawasaki. Let me ask for the continuing support of all of our fans, sponsors, and volunteers.
